If the file t does not exist, it is then assumed to be a color. If t is a string, then it is first interpreted as a filename. If the size option is provided then the image is displayed with the dimensions of the plot.Ī color may be given as a ColorTools object or as a color string. If the size option is omitted then the dimensions of the plot are determined by the dimensions of the image. A plot can only have a single background image or color. The value t can be the name of an image file, as a string, a name, a datatype=float Array as used with the ImageTools package, or a color. The background image or color for the plot. In the Classic interface, the coordinates are always Cartesian. Note : This option is only available in the Standard interface. This option is used together with the coords=polar option. If t is polar, then radial and angular axes are generated. By default, Cartesian axes are displayed. The value t can be either polar or cartesian. The coordinate system used for display of the axes. The second form allows the information to be specified for a single axis, with dir taking the value 1 ( x -axis) or 2 ( y -axis). The first form axis=t applies the information given in t to both axes. Specifies information about the x -axis and y -axis. This option overrides values specified for font. įont for the labels on the tick marks of the axes, specified in the same manner as font. Specifies the type of axes, one of: boxed, frame, none, or normal. This option is available for 2-D plots only. For information on how to specify t, see plot/annotation. By setting this option to a non-negative integer, you can control the maximum number of times that subintervals are divided.Īn annotation for a curve or a point, which appears whenever the pointer is placed over the element. By default, this option is set to true, and intervals are subdivided at most 6 times in trying to improve the plot. This subsampling can be turned off by setting the adaptive option to false. Adaptive plotting, where necessary, subdivides these intervals to attempt to get a better representation of the function. When plotting a function over an interval, the interval is sampled at a number of points, controlled by sample and numpoints. See the plot3d/options help page for options applicable to 3-D plots.įor an interactive method of exploring the options in the plot command, use the Interactive Plot Builder. For more information on the commonly used operator form of the calling sequence, see plot/details. Options should be added at the end of the calling sequence. The help page for a particular command provides more detail about the plotting options it accepts. These options can be used with the plot command and are generally available to all Maple commands that generate 2-D plots. The options listed below may be provided to commands that create 2-D plots.

Walt Mossberg has reviewed Griffin Technologyis radioShark, a time shift device that allows you to record (time shift) radio programs for later listening through your Mac or PC, similar to what a. As our original report said: “ can record audio Internet streams, either scheduled or real-time, from any streaming audio application.” That would be a nice feature, but honestly, it doesn’t seem to be one that’s integral to the product.Download Free Airfoil for Mac – Free Download (2021 latest version) There’s one feature, promised for the RadioShark way back when, that doesn’t exist in the version I’ve been using. And if you check the Accumulates When Closed preference, RadioShark will even continue to record the live radio buffer while it’s closed. This means you can quit out of RadioShark and the program will still grab your scheduled recordings. RadioShark is actually two different applications - the interface application and a background server application. The size of the recording buffer is completely configurable (as long as you’ve got enough hard-drive space), and you can also configure just how many seconds you skip when you press the Rewind and Forward buttons - a 15- or 30- second skip works great when skipping ads. Here, you can listen to music for 30 minutes, then switch to news - and still back up into the music. RadioShark’s time-shifting features work as advertised, although as a TiVo user I found it a little disconcerting to be able to listen to myself changing radio stations - on TiVo digital-video recorders, the recording buffer is wiped out when you change channels. You can play back recording items from within RadioShark’s scheduling window, but an easier path is to set the program’s preferences to automatically add your recordings to a special RadioShark playlist within iTunes. On the right, the Sched button opens up a window that lets you set up or play back scheduled recordings EQ lets you process the radio sound iTunes-style with an equalizer, and TS slides out a drawer below the main window containing “time-shifting” playback features. On the left, the Band button lets you switch between AM and FM the Seek button advances the frequency until it finds a strong signal and the Rec button automatically begins recording what you’re listening to. There are three buttons on either side of the “dial,” and a volume slider right below it. A slider along the top lets you change frequencies - there doesn’t seem to be a way to change frequencies by typing in a number. The main RadioShark application interface is a metallic, iTunes-style window. And I can confirm that the RadioShark software does deliver on what it promises, although (as you might expect from a first version of any software) it’s not without some quirks. What has made the RadioShark a topic of interest over the past 14 months has been its combination of hardware and software. To be honest, a USB radio isn’t very interesting. However, we could only listen to the radio at a small number of sites, so we can’t vouch for what the reception would be like at your home or office. In testing at the Macworld offices and a few residences of Macworld staff members, we found the reception to be decent, although not quite as good as a quality radio. According to Griffin, the jack also doubles as an external antenna plug.
Over in the UK, prominent techs like Pete Cornish were working toward similar goals. Essentially, long before the multi-FX units of the '90s came into being, Bradshaw was custom-building bespoke "multiple-effects systems" out of whatever any given artist might want to incorporate into a rig, and the service caught on big time. Once the effects no longer needed to be on the floor under the guitarist's feet, the rig could be perceived, and conceived, in an entirely new light. There weren't drawers yet, per se, there were just pedals mounted at a slant on top, and the rack stuff mounted down below it."įrom this rudimentary start, Bradshaw pioneered methods of mounting discrete effects units and building custom remote foot controllers and switching systems to assimilate them into an artist's stage or studio rig. There was a Technics home stereo rack, and I had to put rack rails in it in order to mount the stuff. This was for Buzzy Feiten, who was my first major client. "In fact, the first racks that I ever worked with were stereo component racks, that had a glass front. So, I was taking pedalboards and instead of them being on the floor, taking them out and rack-mounting pedals, or putting them in different enclosures." "When I started," Bradshaw tells us, "it was really just pedals still. When Bradshaw first arrived in Los Angeles in 1978 to work in the industry, however, guitarists were still largely struggling to make disparate collections of pedals and the occasional big studio outboard unit play nice together with traditional guitar amps, and he was navigating uncharted territory to get there. Having started in the business before the stage rack was even a thing for guitarists, he would not only create such rigs for the biggest artists in the business, but would develop and drive much of the technology that helped to make those rack systems work. He veritably initiated the trend, was at its epicenter throughout the boom, and continues to make custom touring rigs to this day. Robert (Bob) Bradshaw's name and his Custom Audio Electronics (CAE) company are synonymous with custom pedal controllers, switching networks, and rack-based guitar rigs. or just evolved into something different. So what happened to those rack-centric rigs, what replaced them, and have they found a fresh role in today's music? To get there, let's talk to some of the key techs from the heyday of that sector to find out how the whole phenomenon got started in the first place, why it suited guitarists' needs so well at the time, and whether it really went away. But for a while, that's sure where the guitar world appeared to be headed. Analog pedals and integrated traditional amp heads and combos? Chances are, soon nobody would even make them anymore. Even your aspiring weekend rock warrior at the 200-capacity local venue was racking it up circa 1989. And where would your three-channel tube preamp go, and the dual-100-watt power amp that you slaved it all into? Guitar pedals and old-school amps-leave that stuff for the garage bands and blues clubs. The rack system was it, baby, and who would expect to see anything but a big-ass rack rig in the backlines of concert stages the world over?Īfter all, those 19-inch reverbs and delays and harmonizers weren't going to wire up themselves. There was a time in the mid-'80s to early '90s when any guitarist working in the realm of rock would have bet their Boogie that the traditional rig-consisting of a few effects pedals into a guitar amp-would soon go the way of the dodo.
